As a result of some successful grant writing and support by members such as yourselves, Bike Winnipeg is seeking a number of individuals for employment over the summer to help us build up our organizational capacity and help us achieve our vision of a city where every road is safe for cycling, all bike paths are connected, and riding a bike is normal and always fun.

Web Developer Position

Job Description
We are seeking a passionate individual for the position of Website Developer who supports the mission and vision of Bike Winnipeg and who is committed to active transportation.

Bike Winnipeg is a non-profit, member-based organization working to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe, enjoyable, accessible, and convenient transportation choice year round.

Term
This is an 8-week position from July 6th to August 28th.  There is some flexibility with start and end dates.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for rebuilding Bike Winnipeg’s website and expanding its functionality through linking to CiviCRM, payment platforms, calendar features, social media, and 3rd-party plugins, and other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications gained through a combination of formal education and related experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in website development
  • Experience in MS Office and Google Docs
  • Experience with WordPress is essential
  • Knowledge of web development, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, XML Drupal CMS, WordPress CMS, Joomla CMS.

We are seeking a passionate individual for the position of Volunteer Coordinator who supports the mission and vision of Bike Winnipeg and who is committed to active transportation.

Bike Winnipeg is a non-profit, member-based organization working to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe, enjoyable, accessible, and convenient transportation choice year round.

Term
This is an 8-week position from July 6th to August 28th.  There is some flexibility with start and end dates.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing policies and procedures such as a screening and orientation plan for new volunteers, volunteer feedback mechanisms, recognition and rewards programs, and descriptions of volunteer assignments.

You will also help develop Bike Winnipeg’s Local Bike Groups program, recruit volunteers through Volunteer Manitoba and other platforms, schedule volunteers, track hours, develop and test volunteer management systems including through CiviCRM, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications gained through a combination of formal education and related experience:

  • Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
  • Previous experience with volunteer coordination and/or management
  • Experience in MS Office and Google Docs
  • Experience with CiviCRM is an asset

Event Planner Job Posting

We are seeking a passionate individual for the position of Event Planner who supports the mission and vision of Bike Winnipeg and who is committed to active transportation.

Bike Winnipeg is a non-profit, member-based organization working to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe, enjoyable, accessible, and convenient transportation choice year round.

Term
This is an 8-week position from July 6th to August 28th.  There is some flexibility with start and end dates.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing templates for new events and to improve existing events.  Tasks include developing budgets, sponsorship needs and opportunities, event agendas, relationships with existing and potential event and community partners, volunteer requirements, participant feedback mechanisms, recommendations for event timing and venues, promotion and marketing templates, event-related social media needs, and other details, with the intent that other Bike Winnipeg staff and volunteers would be able to carry out future events based on these templates.

Your responsibilities will include developing and prototyping events for our Local Bike Groups program and for the Love30on30 campaign.  You will need to organize a database of sponsorship opportunities, existing community events, community contacts, potential venues, and other details.  You will be required to periodically meet with our Outreach Committee and Local Bike Groups, and to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience with event development, management, and promotion
  • Experience in MS Office and Google Docs

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing Bike Winnipeg’s communications strategy over all platforms (website, social media, newsletter, etc.) and its tone, style guide, and publication schedules for each target audience and stakeholder type. 

Working with Bike Winnipeg staff and volunteers, you will help develop value-based message framing, member and stakeholder surveys, marketing strategies, communication metrics to track our social impacts, and strategies to engage Winnipeg’s diverse communities.  

Qualifications gained through a combination of formal education and related experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in communications
  • Experience managing and analysing dashboards (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Hootsuite reports, etc.)
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and Google Docs, and comfortable learning about emerging technologies and apps
  • Experience writing, proofreading, and/or editing
  • Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing techniques.
