We all know this year marks Manitoba’s 150th birthday, but how many of us really know the people and places that led to our province’s foundation?

This family-friendly ride along the scenic Red & Assiniboine Rivers will introduce you to the remarkable characters and exciting events that helped our home take shape.

The tour will help you better understand:

• Our local history before we became Manitoba
• The historical architecture of our downtown
• The differing cultures and perspectives of English and French Metis communities
• The impact of Canadian colonialism on local ways of life

St. Boniface, Point Douglas, and (West) Kildonan were perhaps the three most important settlement areas during the early Red River Settlement period, and offer many of the remaining examples of historic locations and architecture from the time.

Although their histories are deeply intertwined, each area had its own ethnic, cultural and political dynamics, and the people of each shaped the development of early Winnipeg in distinct ways.

Drawing on his deep historical expertise, Eric will share Winnipeg’s early history with us as we follow one of the city’s most scenic rides along the Assiniboine River. Save Our Seine (SOS) is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. As part of the celebrations, SOS wants to bring more people to the Seine Greenway.

One of the best ways to experience the Greenway is by bike, and we invite you to join us on an epic ride along and near the river. Along the way, we will learn about:

Some of the projects undertaken by SOS over the last 30 years, including preservation work, restoration projects and education and awareness projects. As well as,

• Vegetation in the riparian zone

Unfortunately, we’ve had to pull out of Doors Open this year, be we definitely hope to line something up for Doors Open 2021.

Doors Open is running this year, so we hope that people can get out to see some of the many sites that will be showcased.

You will need a lock for your bike, and a bit of planning to choose your routes, but we definitely recommend taking in Doors Open by bike.

Unfortunately our scheduled ride of the Manitoba Master Gardener Association’s Annual Garden Tour of Winnipeg area gardens had to be cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We look forward to offering up this tour again in 2021. 

Over the course of this 3 hour tour, you’ll have a chance to drop in at a number of gardens where knowledgeable Master Gardeners and Master Gardeners in Training will be available to answer your questions and provide advice for any problems you may be having with your garden. In between the gardens we’ll be riding at a casual pace along some of the city’s most pleasant bike routes.

A ghastly bike-ride for those who want to pedal deeper into Winnipeg’s paranormal past. Led by Matthew Komus, author of Haunted Winnipeg.

Based on the popular Winnipeg Ghost Walk Tours, Bike Winnipeg has paired up with local author Matthew Komus (Haunted Winnipeg: Ghost Stories from the Heart of the Continent) for a two-wheeled tour of the city that promises to put more than just a little bit of fright into your night.

This 2 hour tour will lead us across the Downtown and Exchange Districts and into Old St. Boniface to investigate some of the spookier abodes in the River City.
