Street repairs/renewals are required on most routes, widen the roadways where possible to accommodate bike travel, this will also provide extra room in the winter for snow accumulation and clean up without damage to curbs.” Proposals also for public transit.

Q: “What is your position on reopening Portage and Main to pedestrians?” “At this time I would like to see it stay closed. The City should look at taking care of the NEEDS first and then when money and opportunity presents itself, partake in the WANTS. In time it would be nice to develop the area as a tourist attraction since it is one of the most famous intersections of Canada.
Q: “What should Winnipeg’s plan be for the future of public and active transit?” Part of my platform includes increasing the Transit fleet with electric buses. We also need to increase ridership, this can be accomplished by reducing the fares across the board. While many cities across Canada have fares that are much higher, those cites do not have some of the highest rates of poverty. It is well documented when fares increase ridership decreases, having a rapid transit with 10 people on the bus doesn’t sound like a very efficient system. Increase the frequency of buses on existing routes, increase the number of routes i.e. include a route to the MTS Sportsplex area. As for active transportation, my proposal is to increase the width of roadways, where possible, to accommodate cyclists. We are already pouring curbs that are about 1/2m wide, why not just make that part of the roadway instead. In the winter it will give the plow operators a buffer zone so they don’t rip up the curbing.”
