Specific statements re cycling and AT: “Invest in improvements to existing active living corridors in the area such as the Harte Trail and the Yellow Ribbon Greenway Trail.  Investigate and push forward plans to expand the active living transportation network throughout the ward.”

From Vote Winnipeg 2018 (Winnipeg Free Press) accessed 17 Oct 2018:

Q: “What is your position on reopening Portage and Main to pedestrians?” “Grant is opposed to the reopening of Portage and Main to pedestrians. That being said, Grant agrees that much needs to be done to both repair and improve the underground pedestrian concourse. There are better ways to attract tourism and business to downtown Winnipeg than reopening a single, extremely busy, cold and windy, intersection to pedestrians.”

Q: “What should Winnipeg’s plan be for the future of public and active transit?” “At this point, Grant would like to leverage New Flyer Industries, North America’s leading bus manufacturer, to improve our transit services through the utilization of their cutting edge transportation technologies and vehicles. Grant would also like to look at acquiring larger capacity vehicles for high use areas while maintaining and improving local transportation services.”

The candidate did not complete the 2018 all-candidate environmental survey: A coalition of Winnipeg Environmental Organizations compiled questions for an all-candidate (Mayoral and Councilor) survey with questions relating to the environment, including AT.
