Clara’s Big Ride Welcome Event in Winnipeg is planned for June 14th and the Bike Winnipeg Event Trailer will be there.

The Welcome Event will include a family friendly carnival and is taking place 2:30 PM Clara Hughes Rec Park, 281 Henderson Hwy.

Six-time Olympic Medalist Clara Hughes started Clara’s Big Ride which is a 12,000-kilometre, 100-day bike ride to reduce stigma around mental illness and raise awareness for mental health as part of the Bell Let’s Talk campaign. She kicked off her ride in Toronto on March 14.

Manitoba’s Big Social for Clara’s Big Ride takes place later that evening.

The social will run from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Manitoba Museum (190 Rupert Ave.) and will include a cabaret of local musical acts hosted by comedian Big Daddy Tazz. Clara Hughes will greet the crowd at 8 p.m.

Presale tickets are on sale at a rate of two for $20 at Moksha Yoga Kildonan (440-1650 Regent Ave. W.) and Medicine Shoppe Concordia (115-1100 Concordia Ave.). After April 10, tickets will also be on sale at the Canadian Mental Health Association offices (930 Portage Ave.), Artbeat Studio (4-62 Albert St.), the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (100-4 Fort St.), and online at www.cmhawpg.mb.ca for $15 each.
