Bicycle Trade Association of Canada launches petition to remove tarrifs on bicycles
In the Federal budget released on March 21st, tariffs on some sporting goods (hockey equipment) were eliminated. Unfortunately, tariffs on bicycles have not been eliminated. Instead as a result of the elimination of a preferential tariff rate on products from more than 70 countries, including China, tariffs on imported bicycles from these countries will in fact rise from 8% to 13%. The Bicycle Trade Alliance of Canada (BTAC) has created a petition asking that the government immediately amend the tariff elimination list to include the 13% on bicycles. Click here to view and print the petition, or here to fill out an online petition or print one of 3 pdf postcards that can be sent to BTAC for delivery to the Minster of Finance.
