SUMMARY:2015 Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bike Winnipeg Saturday November 7th and learn about our accomplishments over the past year and of our plans to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe\, enjoyable\, accessible and convenient transportation choice year round. \nThe 2015 Annual General Meeting will be followed by a presentation (TBA) related to our advocacy work and a mix and mingle session. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. RSVP`s are appreciated so that we can get an estimate on attendance\, but are not required. \nWhen: Saturday November 7th\, 2015 12:30pm – 3:00pm\nWhere: West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice @ Sherbrook) \nAgenda for the afternoon: \nAGM : \n\nWelcome\nApproval of Agenda\nAdoption of 2014 AGM Minutes\nCommittee Reports\n\nFinancial Reports\nMembership & Fundraising\nAdvocacy\nEducation\nExecutive Directors Report\nBicycle Valet Winnipeg\n\n\nNominations & Voting\n\nNominations\nMotions to Amend By-Laws\n\n\nAdjournment\n\nPresentations: \nRoad Safety & Health Panel\nProvincial 3-Year AT Plan \nMix & Mingle: Enjoy some snacks and refreshments on us and hang out with your fellow cyclists! \nApart from the minutes from the 2014 AGM\, we will have one motion to consider at this year’s AGM. \nMotion to Amend Bike Winnipeg’s Fiscal Year\nBe it resolved that Bike Winnipeg’s Fiscal Year End be changed to December 31st\, effective December 31\, 2015\, and that section 1.2 of our by-laws be modified to reflect this change. \nCurrent wording of section 1.2 of the By-laws\nFiscal Year\n1.02    The fiscal year of the Organization shall terminate on the 31st day of March in each and every year. The decision as to whether to audit the books and financial records of the Organization shall remain at the discretion of the Bike Winnipeg Board of directors (hereinafter referred to as “the board”) and shall be reviewed annually and within ninety days of the fiscal year end. \nProposed wording  of section 1.2 of the By-laws\nFiscal Year\n1.02    The fiscal year of the Organization shall terminate on the 31st day of December in each and every year. The decision as to whether to audit the books and financial records of the Organization shall remain at the discretion of the Bike Winnipeg Board of directors (hereinafter referred to as “the board”) and shall be reviewed annually and within ninety days of the fiscal year end. \nRationale for Change\nThis will make it possible to prepare financial and other reports in time for an Annual General Meeting in the early Spring\, perhaps April or May.  It is expected that moving the AGM to the beginning of the main cycling season will increase interest and participation.  The various reports would also pertain to the previous summer. \nPreviously the AGM has been in November and the reports\, being for the year ending March 31\, were largely a year and a half out of date. \nUsing the calendar year as the fiscal year will simplify reporting and filing activities.  It’s much easier to refer to “2015” rather then “2015-2016”\, “2015/16”\, “Year ending March 31\, 2016”\,etc.
